I just made the most addictive snack ever… Crispy Spicy Roasted Chickpeas! They are my new obsession. These are perfectly spicy, crunchy and of course so delicious.

The best part is they are high in fibre, high in protein, low in fat and couldn’t be easier to make! Simply mix the chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans) with olive oil and spices, then roast in the oven.

They are really so versatile. Not only do they taste amazing on their own for healthy snacking, that will keep you full and energised. You can also add to salads and pasta dishes. They are the perfect substitute for salty and crunchy, not so healthy snacks.

Use them in place of croutons or quickly throw together a chickpea salad, they also work as a great   addition to trail mix.

This recipe is vegan, gluten free and dairy free. If you love a savory snack then you need to try this crispy roasted chickpeas recipe.

Spicy Roasted Chickpeas Ingredients

You need the following simple ingredients to make spicy crispy chickpeas.

  • chickpeas
  • olive oil
  • sea salt
  • black pepper
  • chilli flakes (chili powder works too)
  • paprika
  • cumin

Any spice blends or flavourings  that you have on hand will work. You could try garlic powder, cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, garam masala, squeeze of lemon juice or coriander powder.

How to make oven-roasted chickpeas

Follow these simple steps to make this crunchy snack. Full instructions in the recipe card at the end of this post.

  • Preheat you oven to 390f/200c.
  • Ensure the chickpeas are completely dry. Dry chickpeas by patting with paper towels
  • Then put in a medium bowl with other other ingredients and mix together until the chickpeas are evenly coated
  • Transfer to a baking try lined with parchment paper in a single layer
  • Place in your preheated oven and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown, giving them a stir half way through
  • Leave to cool before enjoying
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups cooked chickpeas
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¾ teaspoon chilli flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cumin

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 390f/200c.
  • Ensure the chickpeas are completely dry
  • Then put in a bowl with other other ingredients and mix together until the chickpeas are even coated
  • Bake for 25 minutes, giving them a stir half way through
