Diet is something that most of us struggle with some amount from time to time. But because it’s so important, so central to how we feel and how healthy we are, it’s always worth paying plenty of attention to. If you think that your diet might need some careful attention, the good news is that there are plenty of things you can do to improve it, and it might be easier and simpler than you think.
In this post, we are going to look at this in terms of, primarily, what your diet might be missing. As long as you get to the bottom of this, you’ll soon find yourself in a much healthier state, so that is absolutely something to think about. Let’s take a look at some of the things your diet might be missing right now.
Healthy Fat
All diets need fat, and if you have ever been tempted by the idea of removing fat from your diet entirely, that is not something that you should do. You need fat in order to be healthy. But the kind of fat you consume is important to consider too, because some are just so much healthier than others. And it’s therefore important to understand which fats are healthier and you should therefore consume more than other ones.
In general, you should try to avoid butter, because it is high in saturated fat which is bad for your heart. It’s much better to use rapeseed oil or olive oil, perhaps a high-grade example from Olivebox for instance. This is a much healthier fat and will be a better aspect to your diet in general.
Fiber
You probably know that you need fiber for a good digestive system, but are you actually doing all you need to in order to get that necessary fiber? And if not, what might you need to do to improve the situation? As it happens, getting more fiber in your diet might actually be quite a simple thing to achieve. Mostly it’s a case of getting more grains and nuts and seeds, and whole grains specifically. If you are eating whole foods in general too, that is also going to help you out here.
So those kinds of foods should feature heavily in your diet if you are trying to eat more fiber. If you do it right, you’ll know it because your bowel movements will be more regular and at the right kind of consistency, and you will generally feel much healthier, and even have more energy too.
Vitamin A
Because it’s one of the less well understood vitamins among the general public, a lot of people are simply not getting as much of this as they should. That’s a shame, because Vitamin A is essential for some of the body’s most vital functions, including your vision and your immune system in general. It’s also essential for keeping your gene strands as healthy as possible, which is something that diet can be really central for on the whole. So it’s essential you are getting Vitamin A in your diet too.
How can you do that? Well, carrots are particularly full of it, as are sweet potatoes, pumpkins, spinach and sweet pepper. You’ll also find plenty of it in broccoli and tomato. All of those ingredients are pretty easy to get more of in your diet, so it’s definitely a good idea to make sure you are doing that as much as you can.
Potassium
We all know that potassium is important, but do you know why? Finding motivation for these things is often the most important, because that will help you to actually get more of it. So what is your primary motivation for getting more potassium in your diet? Well, potassium is present in every single cell of your body. It has a really vital role in keeping your nerves and muscles in good shape, as well as your kidneys and liver. It’s also vital for strong bones and for your fluid balance – the kind of thing you would certainly miss if it were suddenly not there!
So to get more potassium in your diet, what do you need to eat? Kidney beans are especially full of it, as are plenty of veg like spinach and kale. You’ll find it in good quantities in bananas too, and in greek yogurt and orange juice.
Once you have more of all those in your diet, you are going to feel so much healthier in no time.
