A Healthy take on a Raspberry Almond Frangipane Tart Recipe! Gluten Free and only natural sugar used!
My mom makes the very best Raspberry Almond Frangipane Tart! She makes it for me very time I go to visit her in Birmingham and it’s absolutely impossible to stop at one slice.

So we all know when I cook, I challenge myself to make it as healthy as possible. My passion is making healthy recipes that are delicious and full of nutrition and beautifying ingredients.
But not one to back down from a challenge I attempted to turn a frangipane tart classic recipe into a healthy dessert.
I was pretty impressed with the results. Homemade Raspberry Chia Seed Jam and maple syrup make this feel really indulgent. Although this is definitely not the most nutritious and nourishing, it’s butter, gluten and refined sugar free so can be enjoyed without any guilt.
This Healthy Raspberry Almond Frangipane Tart is my favourite healthy dessert recipe so far!
And how did it compare to my moms amazing non healthy Raspberry Almond Frangipane Tart? Well lets just say it was completely gone before the weekend ended! A healthier way to enjoy your favorite dessert.
I really hope you enjoy this healthy raspberry frangipane tart recipe filled with delicate almond flavor and classic filling of raspberry jam.
Only a few basic ingredients are needed, this contains much less fat and sugar than a classic frangipane recipe.
Perfect for a special occasions, with a sweet tart dough, raspberry jam and a layer of frangipane topped with flaked almonds.
You can also use this recipe as a base for any fruit tarts, you could try making a pear tart or use it to make mince pies over the holiday season.
What is Frangipane?
It’s not quite know where frangipane originates from, some say Italy, whilst others say it came from a 16th Century Italian nobleman living in Paris.
Typically Frangipane, “Crème d’Amande” in French, or Almond Cream, is made from 5 ingredients:
- butter
- sugar
- eggs
- ground almonds
- flour
We’ve made a few changes to the classic frangipane filling to make a healthier frangipane cream topping (almond cream filling).
Ingredients For Homemade Frangipane
You need the following simple ingredients to make this simple frangipane recipe.
- almond flour – also known as ground almonds or almond meal. I make my own by placing whole almonds in a food processor to a fine flour
- baking soda
- melted coconut oil – can sub for melted butter
- pure maple syrup – can also use honey or agave syrup
- fresh raspberries
- chia seeds
- egg
- egg yolk
- sliced almonds
Optional Add Ins and Amendments
- almond extract – add 1 tsp to the frangipane topping for extra flavor
- vanilla extract – add 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- fresh fruit – mix up the fruit, try a pear frangipane tart or a apple frangipane tart
- different nuts – try using different nuts, how about pistachios for a pistachio frangipane
