Healthy Matcha baked doughnuts for a delicious vegan matcha dessert.
Matcha has been massive on the wellness scene and it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere soon.
Matcha is just so amazing for you. It’s packed full of antioxidants, including EGCg. It boosts metabolism and increases calorie burn. It naturally detoxifies the body and gives a feeling of calm and relaxation. It is also rich in fibre, chlorophyll and vitamins.
There are so many ways you can use matcha too, and can even blend into smoothies for an added energy boost.

Ingredients
For the doughnuts
- 1 1/4 cups flour (I used buckwheat)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar ( I used coconut)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 chia egg
- 2/3 cup coconut oil
- 1/2 cup milk (I used almond)
- 1 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 1/2 tbsp matcha powder
For the chocolate sauce
- ¼ cup organic cocoa powder
- ½ cup pure maple syrup
Method
For the doughnuts
- Heat oven to 350°F/175c
- Lightly spray 6-cup doughnut pan with cooking spray
- In medium bowl, stir together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and matcha powder.
- In a separate bowl beat chia egg, oil, milk, and maple syrup, with a whisk.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients; fold until just combined.
- Spoon the mixture into the doughnut pan filling about a 1/4 full
- Bake on centre oven rack 10 to 12 minutes or until doughnuts spring back when touched.
- Remove from oven, repeat with remaining batter
For the chocolate sauce
- whisk together the maple syrup and cocoa powder, until combined
