Maple Fudge Recipe Variations

Maple walnut fudge– Add a handful of walnuts or other chopped nuts for extra texture and crunch. If you love nuts then try pecan protein fudge, almond raspberry scones or pecan cookies
White chocolate chips – Add a handful of white chocolate chips or finely chopped white chocolate bars for extra indulgence
Maple extract – add a little bit for extra maple flavoring. Or you could even try some caramel extract or apple extract.
Cocoa powder – Add some cocoa powder to make chocolate fudge
Spices – Add some of your favourite spices such as apple pie spice, cinnamon, nutmeg or pumpkin pie spice.
Butter – Use real butter not margarine for the best results. Salted butter will also work

Dried fruits – Mix in finely cut dried fruits such as dried cranberries, raisins, or cherries.
Mini marshmallows – Add some in towards the end so they don’t melt, and stay visible.
Ginger – Add a little bit of chopped candied ginger, only add a little bit otherwise the rest of the flavors will be over powered.
Sprinkles – Add some sprinkles of the top of your fudge before it sets to add a pop of color.
Bacon – If you love the bacon and maple syrup combination add some crispy bacon pieces.
Gifting your fudge? Use Christmas cookie boxes for a cute festive look.
Tips for Perfect Maple Fudge
Perfect slices: To get perfectly smooth slices run your knife under hot water, wipe it dry with a paper towel before cutting your slices.

No Maple Syrup : You can use pancake syrup instead however the flavor will be different and the fudge will be softer.
Candy Thermometer : The best and simplest way to ensure the mixture is cooked to the right stage is by using a candy thermometer. If you don’t have one, you can test by dropping a small spoonful of the mixture into a glass of cold water. If it forms a soft ball that can easily be lifted out, it’s ready. That said, I still strongly recommend using a candy thermometer—it’s just more reliable!
Grainy Fudge : Grainy fudge is caused by sugar crystals. This can happen if your fudge is overcooked or cooked to the wrong temperatures.
Thicker or thinner fudge squares : Use a smaller or larger pan or loaf pan depending on the size of the fudge square you would like.
Pay close attention : Pay close attention during boiling process as the maple syrup can easily boil over or burn.
Salt : The salt is optional but it really helps to balance out the sweetness of the maple syrup

Maple Fudge Recipe
An easy fudge recipe or a decadent maple treat. Perfect for the holidays, fall season, or for gifting.
Ingredients
- 2 ¼ cups maple syrup
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Optional pinch of salt
- Optional: Chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts) for added texture and a nutty crunch
Instructions
- Prepare Your Pan by lining an 8x8 inch square pan with parchment paper or wax paper leaving a bit of an overhang. This will make it easier to lift the fudge out once it has set.
- In a medium saucepan, bring the maple syrup to a boil over medium heat. Let it simmer for 5 minutes, keeping a close watch as the syrup will rise significantly during boiling.
- After 5 minutes, add the heavy cream without stirring and bring the mixture back to a boil (it will rise again). Let it simmer until it reaches 236°F on a candy thermometer, which should take around 20 minutes.
- Once it reaches the desired temperature, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the butter, vanilla extract and salt but do not stir. Let the mixture cool for 8 minutes.
- Using an electric mixer on medium speed, beat the fudge mixture for about 5 minutes until it thickens, lightens in color, loses its gloss, and starts to crystallize. Quickly pour the fudge into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly to the edges. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours until fully set.
- Lift the fudge out using the parchment overhang, and cut into 36 squares with a sharp knife.
- Store it in the refrigerator in an air-tight container for 2-3 weeks. It tastes great straight from the fridge but we think Fudge tastes best served at room temperature so we like to take it out of the refrigerator about an hour before we serve it. It will last one week if stored at room temperature in an airtight container.
