Things to consider when choosing the makeup for your next luxury travel

At the best of times, packing for a vacation can be a tricky business. Fitting everything you need into a carry-on is a challenge, and checked luggage can be expensive and cumbersome. And for a luxury vacation, there are even more issues, with fancier restaurants and exclusive experiences often requiring a greater variety of clothes, gear, and other travel essentials.

You might think that make-up would be the least of your worries, but finding the space to bring everything you need for your full beauty regime can be extremely difficult!

You don’t want to have to lug around hundreds of different products when you are traveling in style, but equally paring down essential beauty products can be stressful. And that’s before you start thinking about liquid limits on airplanes!

So whether you are sailing from Southampton on a luxury cruise or jetting off halfway around the world to a paradise beach destination, here are a few things to consider when choosing your makeup for your next luxury trip.

Steer clear of larger items

Avoiding bulky items is packing 101, and a good idea for whatever sort of vacation you are planning. But if you need to get as much out of your make-up bag as possible, then slimming everything down is the way to go. If you’ve got products that come in large containers, decant them into smaller, travel-sized bottles!

Pack for versatility

The key to choosing make-up for a luxury trip is ensuring that everything you pack can fulfill a double role. This automatically halves the size of your make-up bag and gives you twice the options. You can avoid carrying big eye shadow palettes by using bronzer instead, and there are plenty of surprisingly extra uses for many beauty products – the key is thinking outside the box.

Use TSA-approved containers

If you are traveling by plane, make sure you pack everything in TSA-approved containers. Not only will this save you time and hassle during the security check at the airport, but it will help force you to keep everything in small bottles, reducing the space your make-up takes up. Remember that all liquids need to be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less, and for the purposes of the TSA, ‘liquids’ includes all aerosols, gels, creams, and pastes, as well as traditional liquids.

Don’t forget make-up wipes

Make-up wipes are one of the travel make-up must-haves, an amazing hack that helps you look gorgeous and glamorous wherever you are and regardless of whether you’ve had time to shower. Another great way to keep yourself looking fresh even after a long trip is a scented spray – ionized mineral water mixed with essential oils that helps you feel like a million bucks even after a long-haul red-eye flight!

Look for SPF

In the same way as packing versatile beauty products, ensuring that your chosen make-up includes SPF is a superb space-saving idea, particularly for a luxury vacation. You can free up space and keep your skin protected from the sun, without having to run the risk of ruining your regime with thick, oily sunscreen.

Bring a bright lipstick

A bright, bold lipstick is a quick, simple, and extremely effective way to create a memorable look while on vacation, without having to put in too much effort. A strong, colorful lipstick will let you cut back a little on the rest of your make-up, and will flatter your skin tone. Don’t forget to find a brand that can resist the heat a little (this goes for all your beauty products), and waterproof make-up is a superb choice as well!
